There's a sense of satisfaction that you get from the process of building software, not from the outcome.

The decisions you made. The problems you solved. The bugs you fixed. The feeling of progressing towards a goal. The elegant abstraction. The feeling of writing and then testing to see if what you wrote worked. The autonomy. The flow state. The feedback of your team mates.

All these things make programming very satisfying for most people.

But now we are compressing it all to prompts and becoming operators rather than makers. We just operate the machine. It builds the things.
